Wuhan and New York City, two cities that are struck most fiercely by COVID-19, have both undergone tough wars with this dangerous virus. Now, there are more than 110,465 confirmed cases in New York City, with a 7.2% death rate, which are almost twice the numbers of Wuhan.

 

We would like to explore how the NY government and Wuhan government reacted respectively to COVID-19 and evaluate the effectiveness of government response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We use a “Parallel World” concept here. We assume that the first confirmed case in two cities was announced at the same date (31st, December, 2020) to directly compare government responses.
